After the dazzling spectacle of the Paralympics Opening ceremony, This years Paralympics closing ceremony promises to be just as magical. The event called ‘Festival of the Flame’ will celebrate the seasonal cycle of ancient and modern festivals which takes place throughout the year taking the audience on a journey through Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer aand will feature some very special surprises which will close London 2012 in style.
The Ceremony will include members of the Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy who helped with security during London 2012 and will also honour servicemen and women, particularly through the work of charity Help for Heroes, in a section that will see the dramatic raising of the Union flag in a special way during a performance of the national anthem, which will be devastatingly emotional.
Coldplay will be performing an ‘unusual setlist’ at the Paralympic Closing Ceremony, which is designed to represents the four seasons of the year and they will be joined by The British Paraorchestra , which is composed of 17 performers with disabilities including a one-handed pianist and an electronic musician with cerebral palsy and was created by the conductor and Classical maestro Charles Hazlewood who campaigned vigorously earlier this year for his “paraorchestra” to be included in the Paralympic ceremonies. He wanted to raise the issue of the lack of representation of disabled musicians in orchestras, and saw this as a unique opportunity.
other Stars rumoured to be appearing at The event, which is sold out and expected to be watched by millions world-wide, also include Jay-Z and Rihanna. other recording artists had wanted to be involved in the closing ceremony, however it will revolve around Coldplay who will perform alongside a cast of more than 1,300 volunteers, 120 child volunteers from schools in the east London Host Boroughs, and a 200 strong professional cast including Candoco Dance Company, disabled ariel performers trained at Circus Space.
British stars of the Olympics and Paralympics will then celebrate their summer of success during a victory parade through the streets of London on Monday.The London 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony will see Coldplay take to the stage in celebration of achievements of the Paralympic athletes, and will mark the end of a spectacular summer of sport, which has been a series of success and emotional triumphs for the British athletes who competed in the Games.
