Severn Valley Railway Autumn Steam Gala



I am hoping to make it to this years Severn Valley Railway Autumn Steam Gala, which takes place between September 18 and 21 2014. And is supported by Steam Railway Magazine. Among this years visiting locomotives is the Dugald Drummond designed former London & South Western Railway ‘M7’ 0-4-4T no 30053 from the Swanage Railway in Dorset, which is Making its debut appearance on SVR metals and was built in 1905.

In addition there will be a Preview Day on Thursday , with three locomotives in steam, night operation on Friday and Saturday night, footplate rides, brake van rides as part of a Goods Train and Locomotive support groups and sales stands.

Other steam locomotives booked for the event include ‘Fowler’ 4F 0-6-0 tender locomotive No. 43924, courtesy of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. This will be 43924’s first journey to the SVR and its first journey south in 46 years. The ‘Fowler’ designed 7F 2-8-0 tender locomotive SDJR No. 88. Courtesy of the West Somerset Railway, which is Returning to the Valley before the expiry of its boiler certificate and finally The “Riddles’ designed 5MT 4-6-0 tender locomotive No. 73129. Courtesy of the Midland Railway Trust, which is currently in steam on the SVR, until the Autumn Steam Gala.they will be joined by the home fleet which currently comprises of:

Regina Chassagne(Arcade Fire)

Regina Chassagne, musician with Arcade Fire was born 18 August 1977. Arcade Fire are based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, consisting of husband and wife Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, along with Will Butler, Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury, Jeremy Gara, and Sarah Neufeld. The band came to prominence in 2004 with the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Funeral.

Arcade Fire have won numerous awards, including the 2011 Grammy for Album of the Year (they hold the distinction of being the only musical group to have won their first and only Grammy in that category), the 2011 Juno Award for Album of the Year, and the 2011 Brit Award for Best International Album for their third studio album, The Suburbs, released in 2010 to critical acclaim and commercial success. They also won the 2008 meteor Music Award for Best International Album and the 2008 Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year for their second studio album, Neon Bible. They have also received nominations for the Best Alternative Music Album Grammy for all three of their studio albums.

The band’s work has also been twice named as a short list nominee for the Polaris Music Prize in 2007 for Neon Bible and in 2011 for The Suburbs, winning the award for The Suburbs.The band plays guitar, drums, bass guitar, piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass,xylophone, glockenspiel, keyboard, French horn, accordion, harp, mandolin, and hurdy-gurdy, and take most of these instruments on tour; the multi-instrumentalist band members switch duties throughout shows.
