Finnish racing driver Kimi-Matias Räikkönen was born 17 October 1979 in Espoo). He drove for Lotus for the 2012 Formula One Season, he took the 2007 Formula One World Drivers’ Championship. After nine seasons and also competed in the World Rally Championship from 2010–2011.Räikkönen entered Formula One as a regular driver for Sauber-Petronas in 2001. Having previously only raced in very junior open-wheel categories, he was given his Super Licence from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) after a performance delivery promise by his team boss, Peter Sauber He joined McLaren Mercedes in 2002, and became a title contender by finishing runner-up in the 2003 and 2005 championships to Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso, respectively. Räikkönen’s 2003 and 2005 seasons were plagued by severe unreliability from his McLaren cars.

After switching to Ferrari in 2007, he became the highest paid driver in motor sport with an estimated wage of $51 million per year. In turn his move to Ferrari saw him secure his first Formula One World Drivers’ Championship, beating McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso by one point, as well as becoming one of the very few drivers to win in their first season at Ferrari. In 2008, he equalled the record for fastest laps in a season for the second time. After one more year in the sport, he left the Ferrari F1 team to drive a Citroën C4 WRC for the Citroën Junior Team in the World Rally Championship for 2010. Along with rallying, Räikkönen has turned his attention towards NASCAR, and made his debut for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Camping World Truck Series.In 2008, Räikkönen was among the two Formula One drivers who made it into the Forbes magazine’s The Celebrity 100 list, the other being Fernando Alonso. He is 36th on Forbes magazine’s The Celebrity 100 list of 2008, and 41st on the previous year. On the same list, as of 2008, he is listed as the 26th highest paid celebrity overall and the 5th highest paid sportsman behind Tiger Woods, David Beckham, Michael Jordan and Phil Mickelson. In 2009, Räikkönen was listed as the equal 2nd highest paid athlete in the world, behind Woods. In 2011 Räikkönen signed a 2 year deal with Lotus starting with the 2012 Formula One season

Brazilian Race car driver Bruno Senna was born 15 October 1988 in São Paulo, Brazil . HE is a former Formula One racing driver and the nephew of the late three-time Formula One world champion Ayrton Senna. His mother is Ayrton’s older sister, Viviane. His father, Flávio Lalli, died in a motorcycle crash in 1996. He wears a slightly modified version of his uncle’s helmet design. Senna made his Formula One début in 2010, driving for Hispania Racing. He moved to Renault in 2011, replacing Nick Heidfeld as a driver from August.

For the 2012 season, Senna drove for Williams driver, alongside Pastor Maldonado. Sadly Senna retired from the Australian Grand Prix, after making contact with Felipe Massa. In March, 2012 Senna finished in sixth place at the Malaysian Grand Prix, and 7th in China. Three races later, his teammate Pastor Maldonado won the Spanish Grand Prix! Senna however retired in a collision with Michael Schumacher. After the race, a fire broke out in the Williams garage. Senna’s car was damaged and four crew members were treated for injuries. Senna finished 10th in Monaco, 17th in Canada. In the European Grand Prix Senna picked up a drive through penalty after a collision with Kamui Kobayashi, dropping Senna to 22nd and last, Senna finished the race in 11th which became 10th after teammate Maldonado was given a 20-second time penalty after a collision with Lewis Hamilton. In Britain, Senna started 13th after grid penalties and after a strong start finished the race in 9th. At the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix Senna scored the first fastest lap of his career after a late puncture dropped him from 8th place to 12th place. Senna finished the season 16th in the Championship on 31 points and was dropped by Williams for 2013 in favour of Finnish rookie Valtteri Bottas.

In 2013, Senna raced for Aston Martin Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Senna and his co-drivers had a successful start to the championship, winning at Silverstone and then collecting another podium at Spa. At Le Mans, the Aston Martin Vantage GT2 #99 driven by Senna, Rob Bell and Frédéric Makowiecki started from pole position in the GTE class but did not finish the race after serious crash when running 3rd. Makowiecki had no major injures from the accident. In Brazil at São Paulo there was contact with other cars just in front of Senna resulting in Senna making contact with one of the cars causing suspension damage that forced him to retire from the race.

In 2014, Senna was added to the Sky Sports F1’s coverage lineup for seven races: Malaysia, China, Hungary, Singapore, Russia, USA and Brazil, alongside David Croft and also provided race analysis with the presentation day throughout the seven Grand Prix weekends. Also in2014, Mahindra Racing confirmed Karun Chandhok and Senna as their Formula E drivers for the 2014–15 season Senna Is also a factory driver for the McLaren GT3 project.

British racing driver, soldier and engineer Major Anthony Peter Roylance “Tony” Rolt, MC & Bar, was born 16 October 1918 – 6 February 2008. He won the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans and participated in three Formula One World Championship ande was the longest surviving participant of the first ever World Championship Grand Prix at Silverstone in 1950. Tony Rolt competed in three Formula One World Championship races, the British Grands Prix of 1950, 53 & 55, but all three outings ended in retirement. At the 1950 British Grand Prix, the first-ever round of the F1 World Championship, he started 10th on the grid in an ERA that had been qualified by Peter Walker, but the gearbox failed after four laps. In the 1953 race, again starting 10th, a half shaft on his Connaught failed after 70 laps. He shared a drive with Peter Walker in 1955, the last F1 outing for both drivers: their Connaught started 14th and retired with transmission trouble after 18 laps.

Rolt competed in every 24 Hours of Le Mans race from 1949 to 1955, famously winning the 1953 event in a Jaguar C-Type shared withDuncan Hamilton.He was the last surviving driver from the inaugural World Championship Grand Prix held at Silverstone; also the last pre-World War II member of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC), having been elected in 1936.He retired from racing in 1955 and concentrated on his work with Ferguson Research Ltd., the successor to the partnership he formed with racing driver and Riley tuner Freddie Dixon after the war. In 1971 he founded FF Developments and was instrumental in the development of early four wheel drive systems for racing cars; also for production cars such as the Jensen FF.

American motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel (Robert Craig Knievel) was born October 17, 1938 in Butte, Montana and raised by his grandparents. After watching a Joie Chitwood auto daredevil show as a child, he took to jumping using a pedal bike, later moving on to motorcycles. As a troubled youth, he earned his stagename after occupying a jail cell next to a man named Knofel, leading the jailer to refer to the pair as Awful Knofel and Evil Knievel (Knievel later changed the spelling of the first name to Evel). In addition to stunt riding at local shows, his early life including a spell in the United States Army at the behest of a magistrate, as well as jobs as a hunting guide and an insurance salesman, while also becoming an ice-hockey team owner. Knievel notably staged an exhibition match against the Czechoslovakian hockey team ahead of the 1960 Winter Olympics. After moving into sports full time, he had moderate success on the motocross circuit

Knievel moved into the entertainment business in 1966 by setting up his own touring daredevil show, initially using a variety of performers and later converting it to a solo show with his jumps as the center-piece. He came to national attention when he persuaded the owners of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to let him jump their fountains on New Year’s Eve 1967. After a failed landing, which was caught on film, Knievel spent 29 days in a coma. After his recovery, he continued to make high profile and lucrative jumps, and began lobbying the government for permission to jump the Grand Canyon. Unable to obtain permission, he settled on a jump over the Snake River in Twin Falls, Idaho, which he attempted on September 8, 1974 in the X-2 Skycycle. The parachute deployed immediately after launch and the vehicle crashed just a few feet away from the river’s edge. Knievel suffered minor injuries and avoided drowning. Knievel then traveled to Britain, and on May 26, 1975, attempted to jump 13 buses in front of 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium, again crashing but with severe injuries. His longest completed career jump came at Kings Island theme park in Ohio on October 25, 1975, jumping 14 buses, marking his peak television audience.In 1977, Knievel served six months in jail for assaulting promoter Shelly Saltman for writing an unflattering book. After this conviction, Knievel’s career suffered, causing him to declare bankruptcy following a $13 million award for damages to Saltman.

After cancelling an attempt to jump a tank full of live sharks in Chicago after injuring a cameraman during a practice jump, Knievel eventually withdrew from doing major shows. He instead concentrated on touring with and training his son Robbie Knievel, also a daredevil, eventually making his last jump in March 1981. Knievel’s nationally televised motorcycle jumps were four of the twenty most-watched ABC’s Wide World of Sports events to date. He became a celebrity, recognizable for his use of a Stars-and-Stripes red, white and blue V-shaped set of motorcycle leathers and cape. On the back of this fame, Knievel gained endorsements from Harley-Davidson and a toy line by the Ideal Toy Company. A 1971 film Evel Knievel starred George Hamilton as Knievel, and he starred as himself in the 1977 film Viva Knievel!.

Knievel later said of his career that he had “earned $60 million, and spent $62 million”. During his career he attempted over 75 ramp-to-ramp motorcycle jumps between 1965 and 1980, and in 1974, a failed jump across Snake River Canyon in the Skycycle X-2, a steam-powered rocket. The 35 broken bones he suffered during his career earned him an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as the survivor of “most bones broken in a lifetime.Sadly Knievel died of pulmonary disease on November 30th, 2007 in Clearwater, Florida, aged 69. According to the obituary in The Times Newspaper , Knievel was one of the greatest American icons of the 1970s. Knievel was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999, and to this day his daring exploits remain an inspiration to modern day daredevils who wish to “Push the envelope” so to speak.
