Severn Valley Railway Open House Weekend

The Severn Valley Railway Open House weekend takes place on Saturday 8 April-Sunday 9 April. It Features many attractions including: behind the scenes tours, model railway displays and a whole host of other special attractions, Intensive train service, featuring Pannier Tank No. 7714 and 9F No. 92214, access to Bridgnorth Locomotive Works and Bewdley Yard, as well as Bridgnorth, Bewdley North and Kidderminster Signal boxes, Paddock Railway at Hampton Loade in steam on Sunday, Visiting South African Railway’s 15F ‘Roxane’ on the Coal Yard Miniature Railway at Kidderminster, Class 50 Footplate Experiences at Kidderminster Station and Demonstration parcel loading at Arley. There will also be Guided tours of a locomotive so you become familiar with its construction, the major components and the driving controls, The chance to drive the locomotive for half a mile, and ride in the rear cab for a further half mile on a trip from Kidderminster Station to the Carriage Shed and return.

I addition, To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Fifty Fund and the 25th Anniversary of their association with the Severn Valley Railway, there will also be Class 50 Footplate Experiences offering people the chance to drive a Class 50 diesel-electric locomotive.

There will also be Up to 30 model railway layouts on display in Kidderminster Diesel Depot and The Engine House, Highley Including: Chollerford, Oakenshaw, Castel Del Monte, The Abingdon Branch, Werrington Road, Franwood TMD, Barnstoneworth, Little Aller Junction, Ashburton, Illie Town TMD, Thornton Gate Tramway, Burford, Hergest, Bowlegget Manor, Brandeight, Bradford City Road
