The Shut in by James Patterson and Duane Swierczynski
I have recently read The shut in by James Patterson and Duane Swierczynski. This Exciting albeit rather short thriller novella features a young woman named Tricia Celano who thanks to a rare medical condition called Solar Urticaria cannot venture outside into sunlight and is Confined to a studio apartment. So instead Tricia Celano communicates with the outside world through the internet and watches the outside world through a remotely controlled flying drone.
However things get slightly dangerous when her high-tech toy unwittingly records a vicious murder. So She informs the authorities however with no recording of the event the Police have no proof and are sceptical. So Tricia decides to track down the killer herself. However things get worse when the killer realises that she’s being watched after managing to bring down the drone with a well aimed shot. The killer then attempts to use the information stored in the drone’s memory to track Tricia down and Tricia faces the very real prospect of becoming the killer’s next victim.
