A Game of Ghosts by John Connolly

I would like to read the Creepy, Eerie and atmospheric supernatural thriller Game of Ghosts, by John Connolly. It is the fifteenth novel to feature Paranormal detective Charlie Parker and takes place during deep winter. It concerns a missing private detective named Jaycob Eklund who has mysteriously vanished under suspicious circumstances, so Private investigator Charlie Parker is dispatched by his employer SAC Ross to track him down. However Parker’s employer, Edgar Ross, an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, may also have his own sinister agenda for wanting Eklund found.

Parker discovers that Eklund is no ordinary investigator. He is obsessively tracking a series of homicides and disappearances, each linked to reports of hauntings. As He investigates further his onvestigations lead him to a sick and twisted inhuman cult called “The Brethren” which is led by brother and sister Kirk and Sally who have rather an unhealthy relationship with one another and has been responsible for a reign of death and destruction spanning many years.

Parker is also fighting with his ex-wife Rachel for custody of his daughter Sam who also exhibits her own unique set of paranormal abilities and must also be protected from The Brethren. It is not long before Parker finds himself drawn into Eklund’s nightmare world, a realm in which the monstrous Mother rules a crumbling criminal empire, in which men strike bargains with angels, and where the innocent and guilty alike become unwitting pawns in a game of ghosts . . .
