Dunston by Conn Iggulden

I would like to read Dunstan by Conn Iggulden. This is another exciting historical epic. It Concerns a priest and performer, a visionary, a traitor and confessor to kings, who went on to change the fate of England. It features King Aethelstan, grandson of Alfred the Great. Aetherlstan dreams of a united kingdom however England is currently divided and broken after years of misrule so Aethelstan attempts to unite England under one crown.

By his side is Dunstan of Glastonbury – priest, soldier, visionary and, some insist, traitor, who has an enquiring, intelligent mind and is full of ambition and wit. However Dunstan has a troubled past. He is the Son of a Wessex thane and was sent to a monastery for education, however he broke his vows. betrayed those he loved and murdered many innocents. However he gets a big break when Lady Elflaed calls with a proposal after hearing about what she considers to be a miracle and the monks consider another in a long line of excuses. So Dunstan arrives at the royal court, where he is given the task to steward seven kings through fire, war, murder and fury to see Athelstan’s dream come true.

His adventures take him from rural Wessex to the hills of Rome – from exile to exaltation and The results of his actions are eventually Decided by The events on one field during the passage of a single day. Through Dunstan’s vision and guiding hand, England could either unite as one great country – or fall back into anarchy and misrule…
