World Health Day

World Health Day is observed annually on April 7 byAll Member States of the World Health Organization. It was started In 1948, when the W.H.O held the First World Health Assembly and decided to make 7th April World Health Day, with effect from 1950. The World Health Day is held to mark The founding of the World Health Organisation and is seen as an opportunity by the organization to draw worldwide attention to a subject of major importance to global health each year. To mark the occasion The WHO organizes many international, regional and local events on the Day related to a particular theme.

World Health Day is acknowledged by various governments and non-governmental organizations with interests in public health issues, and various activities take place to highlight their support in media reports, such as through press releases issued in recent years by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Global Health Council. World Health Day is one of eight official global public health campaigns marked by The World Health Organisation, along with World Tuberculosis Day, World Immunization Week, World Malaria Day, World No Tobacco Day, World Blood Donor Day, World Hepatitis Day, and World AIDS Day.
